"your mom doesn't work here" x 1,000,000

found this funny website - passiveaggressivenotes.com. people submit notes that other people leave behind to teach others a lesson (aka scold them for the annoying things they've done). unless you've lived and worked alone, you've encountered some of these notes yourself.

happy memorial day weekend!

enjoying all the technology
for memorial day weekend, our friends kl and ll invited us to the watsonville air show. he had vip tickets from a sponsor and i had never been to an air show and fdq loves anything involving technology so we went! it was way fun. there were a few airplanes and helicopters that were available for viewing.

outside the jumbo plane
there was this hugmongous military jumbo plane that you could fit tanks inside. i think.
start of the air show!
front row vip seats!
the vip area was great! free food, great view, and private port-a-toilets! thanks a bunch, kl!
cool helicopter
this cool helicopter has intermeshing rotors. i think it was a kaman kmax. it looked like a mosquito. it carried an suv and dropped it from the sky. it was neato how flat it got.
it takes off!
the finale was the lift-off of the big jumbo military plane. it was way loud. afterwards, we drove to santa cruz and enjoyed the beach.

learning with fdq: debt, debt and more debt

i turned the tv on last night and this movie called maxed out was on. i started to record it when fdq came home and i showed him the movie. not surprisingly, he got it last year and watched it already. so we watched it again. remember in college signing up for a number of credit cards just for the free t-shirt or water bottle? i do. luckily, i avoided racking up the credit card debt that millions of americans have. but it's amazing how being in debt creates such a pyschological hold - people just don't know what to do. and corporations feed it.

in memorium: grandma q

thanksgiving '06
unfortunately this week, we had to fly back to new mexico to attend the funeral of fdq's grandma. she just turned 91 years old and was the youngest of her siblings who are all still alive. actually, her 94 year old sister just passed away mere weeks before. grandma q was a great, great, grandma. i was fortunate enough to have met her a couple of times - she was so welcoming and warm hearted. she was a fighter, surviving a brain tumor and stroke many years ago. she will be sincerely missed by many.

fdq's track day

on the hottest day of the year, fdq brought his car to track day with a few friends. as the temp was hitting 100 degrees, he was hitting 120 mph. the rubber on his tires were literally melting off - believe me, that was first thing he showed me when he got home. at least he was able to get the need for speed out of his system!

bright bridal shower

beautifully set table in a gorgeous patio
enjoying the view
princess cake
on mother's day weekend i went to a friend's bridal shower in deep east bay. it was at a beautiful house with a great backyard where we ate lunch. the maid of honor and her mom did a fabu job with the decor and food. we all had a enjoyable time and i stayed longer than expected!

get back to the blog!

i know that the blog has been neglected but recently friends and family have actually told me that they enjoy reading it! so that's given me new incentives to keep it up. i originally thought that fdq and i just didn't have much going on but i forgot about a couple of adventures that fdq had recently. one of the being his trip to costa rica. it was for a friend's bachelor party and he had a blast. the trip had a bumpy start because of the lack of planning but it all worked out at the end. fdq captured one of their fun excursions - flying through the trees on cable lines called canopy lines or zip lines. check out the video of the longest canopy line!

so fresh and so clean, clean!

i've had some skin problems lately so i've had to change my cleaning/moisturizer regiment. the aveeno oatmeal bath treatments were saviors to my rashy skin. also, my good friend ljn recommended this yardley london oatmeal and almond soap. you can get them at walgreens and, better yet, dollar stores. she was right - it cleans your skin without leaving a film but still keeps it soft. and it smells great too!

happy may day!

image from here
oops, i've missed blogging for most of april. my bad. work got busier and i got lazier but mostly not much happened. so here's a post to celebrate may day! my high school takes a school day off to celebrate may day every year. it's essentially a coming-out celebration for the senior class but all the classes get involved with dances to a may day theme. my fav was our sophomore year when we do the may pole dance. it's one of school's unusual traditions that made us unique. those were the days! (they played this song as the festivities ended - i've always loved it!)
