how to celebrate fdq's birthday: step 2...

fancy schmancy dinner! saturday night i treated fdq to a fabu dinner at michael mina. the dinner was delish and the service was spot on. you have a choice of a three-course prix fixe menu or the six-course tasting menu. we selected the three-course because the dishes were more intriguing. the highlights were fdq's shabu-shabu and premo beef tasting as well as my lobster pot pie and dessert. we were so full that we had to take the cookies home - they were delish too.

i'm still trying to figure out why the candle holder is so huge (that the silver circular thing).

how to celebrate fdq's birthday: step 1...

bowling! fdq's good friend ef wrangled up another friend friday night to treat fdq to a night of food at maya where the food is yummy but the drinks are yummier. then we ventured out to serra bowl.

for some reason, i didn't get fancy new shoes like the guys but i beat them all in the first 2 games and got 2nd in the 3rd game. not bad for a prego lady.

the celebration continued into the wee hours of the morning but just with the boys... doing boy stuff.

fdq complained about being sore days later. i wonder why.

i miss lh. she's been living in singapore for just over a year to live with her boyfriend/fiance. we were roommates for almost 8 years. we had the best roommate schedule - she kept the west coast stock market hours and i had the lazy architect timetable. she's adventurous, sweet, and super duper friendly. she was a great partner to explore a new city. oh yeah, and such a foodie! happy birthday to sweet lh, half way round the world!

we have too many friends with birthdays in may/june. of course, i would've done better if i posted them sooner. kl's a dear friend of ours. he actually married us! we couldn't have had a more perfect gentleman for the job. he's super intelligent, caring, genuine, funny and more. he's going to be a terrific dad. happy birthday, our friend!

meet baby q

yup, that's our baby - about a month ago. this little guy/girl is partly the reason why i've been blogging so sporadically. i'm at 18 weeks now and the first trimester was tough. i didn't puke but was nauseated every night and exhausted. it's gotten better now - but i feel like a cow. even my doc said i gained too much weight. egads. we'll find out the sex in a couple of weeks - can't wait!

i've finally told my bosses at work and apparently it was obvious. i don't really know how but maybe i shouldn't know.

many moons ago i met a young man named yj. he's the strong, silent type. he's still a good friend and we celebrated his birthday at vik's chaat house with a yummy meal. he's off now, adventuring across the country to decompress from another hectic school year. happy trails, pal!
